Not too happy about that. I'm ready for spring. Last week we had 70 degree weather, and I popped out my flip flops. Tomorrow, boots. Hrmph! With Spring being so nearly here, I've been busy organizing two different summer camps. We're doing "Peter Pan" in June in Kansas City, and "SHREK" in Seattle during July. I'm so excited for both of these productions. The more I work on these shows, the more I realize that I love "Theatre pour enfants" or Children's Theatre. It's pretty magical watching the growth that takes place from the first day of camp to show time. I could go on and on and on, but I wont. Here are the websites for each of these camps. I've worked pretty hard on them, so enjoy!
Cooney Camp: www.cooneycamp.info

KC Camp: www.youththeatrecamp.weebly.com

Life is going great in other ways too. We just finished "Giselle", and I'm happy that went well, and happy to moving onto a new show. Now we're working on Twyla Tharp's "Catherine Wheel Suite" and I love it! I get to be tossed in the air, spun around, cartwheeled, and more, and it's just a blast. Set to the music of "The Talking Heads," it's like nothing I've done before. If you're in the area, you really will have to see it. It's not 'til May though.

Jon impresses me with his studious habits, and amazing work ethic. He juggles school, a job, teaching a church class, and shadowing at the dental clinic, and yet he still comes home each day with a handsome smile on his face. What a guy.

That's it for now. I'm sure I'll write back when the next change in seasons occurs ...

It's Autumn time ...

I love Fall. It's really an overlooked season. It can't be easy being stuck between Summer time, and Winter. I for one, love switching my shorts for skinny jeans, and my faded t-shirts for layering tops. This Fall has been especially fun, because for the first time Jon and I were in the same ballet performance. Jon's debut with Kansas City Ballet was entrancing. He played Officer Carroll in "Slaughter on Tenth Avenue," and I thought he stole the show. In 9 years of dancing with KCB I have never had a part where I spoke a line, but Jon's with the ballet for one week and he's given a line to shout with vigor. Very impressive and entertaining!
With fall-time comes Halloween. This year Jon and I participated in a carnival or side show theme. Jon and our friend Aaron went as Conjoined twins, Stayce was a strong man, and I was the "bearded lady." Good times were had by all.

I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving, and by then I just might be ready to accept a new season.

SUMMER IN SIX

Hey kiddos! I remember reading a while back about the legend behind St. Valentine. According to one account, Emperor Claudius II outlawed marriage for all young men because he believed unmarried men made better soldiers. Valentine defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young couples and was put to death by the emperor for it. A related legend has Valentine writing letters from prison to his beloved, signing them "From your Valentine." I decided to post some great photos of those close to me that have found their true love. Actually, my sisters and I made a book for my parents that had tons of our wedding photos, so it's sort of a great opportunity to show off my Mom's amazing sewing skills. We like to call it "Cooney Camp." We've got 40 enthusiastic and energetic children between the ages of 3 and 12. We get to be with them for 2 1/2 hours 3 days a week in an attempt to teach them how to sing, act, and dance. I think next year, we should seriously make a reality show out of it. It's way more entertaining then 99.9% of the reality shows out there. We seriously have enough "Drama" to fill up a 30 min episode each week. I mean two weeks ago we had one of our performers stick a rock up her nose 5 minutes before all of the Parents were about to pick up their children. All in all .... there's nothing quite so entertaining then watching 9 pirates under the age of 8 make up pirate names and say "Argh!" as deep and as raspy as their young voices can go. I'll keep you all posted on how the show goes next Friday. Cross your fingers the Tinkerbells remember to faint when they take Peter Pan's poison. On May 23rd Jon and I got married in The Seattle Temple! It was the happiest day of my life. Everything was absolutely perfect. The weather was clear, sunny, and warm, (which is a real treat in Seattle!) The Monday after our wedding we flew off to Costa Rica. While in Costa Rica we did a rain forest canopy tour, where we ziplined, rope-swinged, and climbed all over a gorgeous rain forest. We also went horseback riding, river rafting, and enjoyed a volcanic hot spring. One of the most enjoyable days was fishing with a local crew where Jon caught a 180 lb sailfish, and I caught a tasty mahi mahi. We were just off the coast where they filmed Jurassic Park. It was absolutely beautiful! When we weren't surfing, or hiking, our hotel was right on the beach and we made sand castles and got a lot of sun! Between the wedding and the honeymoon we have really enjoyed marital bliss!
